summer: learning to run

  • may: its been about a month since we did our baseline HYROX run. while i wish i could say we have been consistently running and seeing progress, that hasn’t been the case yet. partially due to having other obligations1, i have barely been able to keep up with our minimum requirement of 2 runs/wk, and haven’t noticed improvements yet. by the guidance of ai, i have chosen to train via zone 2 “runs”. this means keeping my heart rate between ~140-150bpm. right now this is looking like an hour (~4mi) of alternating between running and walking that i do after my gym workout. this workout isn’t difficult, especially because my heart rate seems to spike above 150 quite often. something about it not feeling difficult also makes me feel like it’s not really doing anything either. however, i’m not hating it, which is a significant improvement from my previous feelings on running. next month, i would like to start running more consistently (closer to 4x/wk if possible)!
